Israel Acquino
Founder & General Contractor
The founder
The person who quotes you is the person who builds it.
Israel Acquino founded Red Stag in 2011 after a decade running crews for two of LA's largest custom-home builders. The thesis was simple: most outdoor contractors broker the work — they quote, then sub it out to whichever crew is cheapest that week. That fragmentation is why most LA fence and deck projects come back with surprise change orders, missed schedules, and inconsistent finish quality.
Red Stag was built as the opposite. One in-house crew. One quality bar. One person — Israel — who walks every project, signs every contract, and personally inspects every final walkthrough. Fourteen years and 600+ builds later, the model still holds: zero mechanic's liens, zero unfinished projects, and a 4.9 / 5.0 rating across 127 verified LA homeowners.
Israel holds California State License #964664 (B General Building, C-6 Cabinet/Millwork/Finish Carpentry, C-36 Plumbing) and has been continuously licensed since August 19, 2011. Red Stag carries $2M general liability, full workers' compensation, and a contractor's bond — certificates available on request to any client, HOA, or property management firm.
The operating principle
"Do it right the first time" — and put it in writing.
Every Red Stag contract is fixed-price, line-itemed, and locked before any deposit is invoiced. We don't write estimates with allowance lines that float. We don't send change orders for scope we should have caught at the walkthrough. The quote you receive is the price you pay — typical variance across our last 24 months of projects: zero on roughly 92% of completed builds.
We don't chase volume. We do roughly 35–45 outdoor projects a year, which is what a single dedicated crew can deliver at the finish standard we want. That keeps our calendar booked typically 4–8 weeks out, but it also means every client gets the same crew, the same PM, and the same Israel-Acquino-walks-the-site quality bar. Scaling beyond that would require subcontracting — and that's the model we built Red Stag explicitly to avoid.
The lifetime craftsmanship warranty is a direct expression of this principle. If a board cups, a post leans, a hinge fails, or any element we built doesn't perform as specified — we fix it on our dime. No diagnostic fee, no fine print, no clause that voids it because the gate is six years out of warranty. Wood ages, hardware wears, but structural and finish failure is on us, period, for as long as you own the home.
